Many financially gifted individuals are thinking wondering what to do with their “fat wallets” – should they put it in the bank for future investment use it for something that is tangible. They might just say “hey, this is exciting!” and what better thing to buy that can cause a phrase like this – a brand new sports car!

But here’s how to look at both the positive and negative sides of spending cash for a sports car.

Fanatics can find the most interesting and beautiful reason to own a sports car and the good news are is:

- Sports cars fit the lifestyle of the rich, the famous and the elegant.

- These sports cars have more powerful engines with up to 750 horsepower.

- Sleek, convertible types depreciate more slowly than hardtop rivals.

- The newer the sports car model, the more impressive the driver is.

- Fans of pricey sports car can choose between the coupe type and convertible type.

- Automatic transmission sports cars have better resale values.

- High-end exotics have been largely immune to the recession

- Less striking cars do best, often losing as little as 6 to 10% of their worth over five years.

- Sports cars are used in many cases for car racing. Both men and women are starting to become addicted with the sport.

Although fitting, as it can be, for their lifestyle, it’s not all that easy when it comes to buying a sports cars, the not so good news is:

- Sports cars are prone to being affected by recurring and financially viable trends.

- Some sports cars have very expensive and hard to find repair parts.

- Sports car buyers should not expect to ever get back their full investment when reselling the car.

- Expensive sport cars infrequently serve their purpose as just a means of transportation. They just become the collector’s item that is rarely used.

- Driving an expensive sports car means spending extra money for gas.

- Models that were sold at special discounts decrease in value faster than other models.

- Various exotic sports cars that only a minority can find the money for are often resold because of costly maintenance.

On the other hand, sports cars have become a passion for some. It could indicate that the buyer would spend more than he should, since it brings enjoyment to the owner, and he is willing to sacrifice the costly price of owning one for the joy and prestige it gives.

Do you like your boss?

I once worked for a managing editor who felt it was his duty to pay for the majority of drinks when joining the charges after work. Needless to say, he was well liked.

But leading a group of people — and yes, journalists are people, too — takes more than a few dollars in the pub to do well. A recent survey proves the point: A majority of U.S. workers do not think their bosses are truthful and one in four would fire their boss if they could.

It gets worse: The poll, conducted for a human resources and placement company, found 53 percent of workers did not think their boss was honest, a similar number did not think their boss was fair or patient and two-thirds did not think their boss was loyal.

On the plus side, two-thirds of workers would not change anything about their relationship with their boss, although I’m not certain what that means, or implies.

Couples Retreat may have topped the box office with $35.3m over the opening weekend, but it doesn’t really make the case for vacation therapy.

In fact, this Vince Vaughn starrer goes the other way – and suggests that the best way to save your marriage is to escape from the wacky Couples Retreat staff and the weird yoga techniques (filmed at the St. Regis Resort in Bora Bora). You end up at a singles resort instead, get sloshed, scream and shout at your spouse and then a round of make-up sex solves all your problems.

The movie is barely worth the price of the ticket, but don’t let it change your mind about vacation therapy, which is actually quite effective. Much more effective than endless visits to a therapist in the city or getting a Maine Coon as a therapy cat to keep you calm.

Vacations are by definition therapeutic – since you get some change and leave behind your worries and daily duties. But what we’re talking about here is something more than an ordinary vacation. We’re talking therapy sessions, mind-body cleansing, healthy food and a retreat from the rat-race and the wired world.

“No he did-dunt, Uncle Bob! Stop making that up!”

He says we spend too much money on the panda, because “unfortunately it’s big and cute.” Screw ‘em. Seen one panda, you’ve seen ‘em all.

But what happens when all the pandas are gone, Uncle Bob? What will that nasty man do then?

Well Sally, it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes after sea otters, polar bears and golden retrievers. You better bring Goldie in and hide her in the closet tonight, kids. She’s just too big and cute for her own good.

Them flip-flops ain’t makin’ it, honey!

Over there in Britain, some unions have set off a heated debate by demanding that women have the right to wear comfortable shoes in the workplace.

Guys, in case you’re total morons, “comfortable” is a code word for ugly.

My first reaction to this was fine, there’s no job where a woman really needs to wear stiletto heels, but after doing some research in our photo archive, I found quite a few.

It turns out you need high heels for farming, riding a motorcycle, running for vice-president and working in a car wash, just to name a few, and that’s not even to mention how much you need them if your job is being Jennifer Aniston.

Also, a group of foot doctors has muddied the waters by saying that wearing high heels can cause blisters, corns, calluses, foot, knee and back pain. Well, boo hoo! Speaking for Jennifer Aniston, I can live with that.

Attention Trekkies: Roddenberry’s Mac on auction block

Apple's Macintosh Plus

In what may just be a perfect storm of technology geek gadget lust, an auction house in Southern California is preparing to auction off the first Apple Macintosh Plus ever made–a computer that was owned by “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry. The event promises to bring together two of the most famously devoted fan bases– Apple buyers and Trekkies.

Profiles in History, an auctioneer of Hollywood memorabilia, will offer the aging Mac at an auction scheduled for Oct. 8-9. (For those keeping score at home, the device bears the serial number F4200NUM0001.)

The Macintosh Plus was launched in 1986 and featured a whopping 1 megabyte of RAM (today’s comparable desktop computers come loaded with a base 1 gigabyte of RAM — a 1,000 times more). It was the third model in the Mac line and cost $2,600, according to Wikipedia. The very first Mac Plus to roll off an Apple assembly line was presented to Roddenberry as a gift. He died in 1991.

The auction house said It has an estimated sale price of $800-$1200.

Also on the auction list is Michael Jackson’s white glove that he wore on the Victory Tour. One would expect a somewhat higher price for that cultural artifact.

Blog Guy, I don’t like where my life is headed lately and I need to make some changes. Where can I get insight into other lifestyles?

The best place is the lifestyle section of our online video clips.

For instance, the top item there now shows elephants rampaging through a tea estate in India.

Um, okay. Is there more to it than that?

I don’t know, there’s no narration. I presume it’s a life choice we should expect to see more of. It will hit Los Angeles soon, I expect.

But wait. Is this about elephant lifestyle, or people who might get trampled, or how we should switch to coffee since all the tea is squashed, or what?

It’s about life. And style. I can see from your negativity you’re not ready for change, so maybe you should just let other, more evolved readers embrace this lifestyle, whatever it is.
